Education

Every Child Has The Right To  Learn

A lack of trained teachers, inadequate learning materials, makeshift classes and poor sanitation facilities make learning difficult for many children. Others come to school too hungry, sick or exhausted from work or household tasks to benefit from their lessons.

Estimates currently suggest 258 million children and youth worldwide who are not in any kind of education. The total includes 59 million children of primary school age, 62 million lower secondary school age, and 138 million upper secondary school children missing out on the fundamental right to education.

A lack of education significantly reduces the future prospect of each child as they simply do not have the qualification or knowledge to better their position.

More than three million children in Somalia are out of school.

For many children in Somalia, going to school is still a dream out of their reach

In many areas across the country, parents are not able to fund their children’s education.

In addition to poverty, safety concerns, social norms favouring boys’ education, and lack of teachers, particularly female teachers, and the low availability of sanitation facilities, stop parents from enrolling children, particularly girls, in school.

When children make it to school, they are rarely able to benefit from it entirely. Classrooms are often overcrowded, water and sanitation facilities are inadequate, and trained teachers and school books are hard to come by.

Children living with disabilities face even more challenges, and adolescent girls can rarely complete secondary education.

How We're Making A Difference

We work towards ensuring that every child is getting access to education regardless of who they are or where they live.

Our goal is to help those in need by giving them the tools to pursue a better standard of life.

In 2008 we started our first project related to education in Mogadishu, Somalia, where we targeted some of the most disadvantaged communities, including orphans.

The aim was to help these communities affected by ongoing civil war and tribal conflicts to access quality primary education.

With our donors’ compassionate help, we can work to make the dreams of thousands a reality by giving them the helping hand they need. An opportunity to learn is all that numerous children worldwide are asking for, so let’s not deny them any longer.
